Subject: Wanderer arrives in New Zealand
Hi Al,
Wanderer
landed at the port today and now I'm busy arranging for Customs
clearance etc. I will send more pics of the trip when I can find some
time to select and scan them from the ones returned to me after the
Maritime Museum exhibition which ended last month. Ady and I have
postponed our wedding due to a financial squeeze, but we're still
going to do it!

Subject: The Biggest Boat I Could Afford
Hi Al,
Well, I guess you know by now
that the sale of my old Wayfarer from Anastasia back to me has gone
through and I'll have Wanderer in NZ next month some time. I got a note
from Frank Dye congratulating me on my repurchase, too. My book
sales continue to putter along nicely, the winter is unseasonably
mild and Adrienne and I swear we will get married by the end of
October. All's well in other words, and I hope it is the same with you.
Cheers,
Lee

Hi, Lee:
Any more news I should
know? I finally reached your email in my Weekly Whiffle
catch-up mode and realize that Wanderer should be
"home" in NZ by now. Hope all is well with you, as it is here. You get
the front page of the Whiffle Web this week - fond memories
of good times (see photo above of Lee and Al sailing Wanderer
off Cocoa Beach, FL), not counting the karaoke!! Take care,
Uncle Al (W3854)

As we all well know and admire, Frank and Margaret Dye sailed Wanderer up the entire east coast of the States to the St. Lawrence Seaway and down the Seaway to Ontario. Lee Hughes bought her, trailered her back down to Florida, and sailed her back up the coast to the northern tip of New Jersey. At the end of his journey, he brought her to Annapolis and my care. When I first met Lee, his eyes twinkled when he spoke of his far-away love, Ady, in Christchurch. Now that Lee's in New Zealand, his eyes must be twinkling a bit more as he awaits the return of his other lady love, Wanderer. I expect we'll hear many wild and funny tales of sailing adventures. She's in capable and daring hands. Good luck, Lee, and happy days on the sea with Wanderer. Anastasia -----

Thanks for letting us
know, Anastasia. I will save this news for the resumption of my Weekly
Whiffle after the racing ends in October. Hope we'll at least see
you as a visitor at the 2006 Rock Hall Regatta. Best regards,
Uncle Al (W3854) -----

Best to you,... Glad to hear you'll publish my little note about Wanderer. I rather miss the boat and was just wondering today if it's arrived yet. Yes, I'll look forward to seeing you at next year's Rock Hall regatta. Sorry to have missed this year. Just overcommitted. Anastasia Al Schonborn wrote:
