the Chesapeake Bay
Wayfarer Cruise 2008 Thursday 29 May: Tangier & Watts Island - 4 photos by Uncle Al, Dick Harrington, Jeremy & Gary Hirsch |
Robinson Crusoe staggers
ashore,
followed by ... ... |
... Friday ... |
Tony and ... ... |
... Gary have chosen their
spots. ... |
a nice, smooth mooring
routine
for Tony and Mary ... |
Not quite as smooth for
Gary who
ends up having to ... ... |
... search for his anchor
that's
come off the rode - in shallow water, fortunately!! ... |
But soon everything is as
it
should be and ... ... |
... the boats are left to
swing
in the very gentle breeze while ... ... |
... refreshments are
brought
ashore. ... |
Tangier Island is just
visible
on the horizon. ... |
a lovely spot for a picnic! ... |
the west side of Watts
Island - for full-size pic, click here ... |
You wouldn't want to come
ashore
blind around here. ... |
But it's pretty in its way. ... |
lots of birds to ... ... |
... watch (so, do we know
what
this is? an osprey???) ... |
Mary has walked around to
the
east shore to meet Dick who drifted around the longer way
but most
definitely ... ... |
... got himself a nicer,
stumpless beach!! ... |
A beach that even had an
active
bird's nest. ... |
Dick asked around on
Tangier but
no one could enlighten us as to what kind of bird lays
these eggs. ... |
And Dick's day was complete
when
he even spotted an ... ... |
... eagle and perhaps ... ... |
... its nest. |
