Wayfarer Chesapeake Cruise South Tuesday 31 May: side trip to Watts Island - 5 pics mostly by Uncle Al ...... |
We got a lovely,
little breeze from the NW which let us sail nicely close-hauled on starboard tack for the south tip of Tangier Island. ............ |
A perfect wind for
newcomers to start their learning curve. ............ |

Here Jason is indeed
under the watchful eye of Coach Al and his camera. As I
recall, we had a nice little race with Solje. ............ |

Stephanee guards
against leg burn on this oppressively hot day made
bearable by the fact we were on the water. ............ |

Eeek! Note the stretch
marks on the jib luff that are screwing up the light
wind trying for a smooth path across the genoa. On this sail, the tack should be refastened in a looser fashion - at any cost!!! ............ |
At the south tip of
Tangier the wind left us once more and we became
grateful for having motors among us. ............ |

For us aboard The
Sperry Ferry, it was Chuck to ... ............ |
... the rescue. ............ |

Back ashore, the
heat was nasty in the still air, and Al's camera did
not venture out again until sunset. Even though we
were greeted upon arrival by Robert Mosher and his
daughter, Ann, who had sailed to Smith Island the
first day. They brought back news to the effect that
Pauli was not as yet in residence - but was expected
to be there by tomorrow. - click here for larger
