W1321 track on the 19th: We awoke to fairly gentle rocking in the first of several days of east winds blowing fairly steadily at about 10 to 15 knots. Departed Black River at 0630. Gary called Jack at Check Point 1 as we were passing Alpena on a rollicking beam reach. Arrived Rogers City's fine and helpfully staffed marina at 1545, having put in 51 nautical miles in just over nine hours.

By the time Gary and I woke up and departed our anchorage, Grant Fenner (above) and ...

... Vlad Eremeev had rowed for several night-time hours, "tiptoeing" past us (whom they did not see)
until the wind finally filled in, and sunrise found them sailing along on a pleasant reach.

By the time Gary and I were cautiously picking our way through the shallows that had protected us the previous night, the wind ...
...

... had picked up nicely.
