Alexander William Fyfe

April 30, 1928 ~ March 11, 2021 (age 92)
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of William (Bill) Fyfe. 92 years young, Bill was taken from us unexpectedly.  Beloved and devoted husband of the late Dorothy Fyfe (Dray), father to Alex (Ann Marie), and Penny (Dave Chartrand), grandfather to Wade, Michael, Austin and Madeline, and great grandfather to Ali (Allister). Bill will be remembered as a gentleman with many interests and opinions, as a great conversationalist and as a loving family man.  In his younger years he worked for Bell Canada in Toronto and Hamilton and later as a civilian member in the RCMP in Ottawa. He was a passionate sailor and long-time member at Lac Deschene Sailing Club competing in the Wayfarer class. He participated in many regattas including the World Championships in Denmark.

After the passing of Dorothy, he resided at Amica in Westboro. Bill was still driving, playing crib, enjoying sudoku and kenken, bird watching, loved practicing and improving on his ukulele, participating in Wednesday night jams at the Clocktower with BUG (pre-Covid) and spending time with companion Mardie McGloughlin who recently passed.  He will be sorely missed by family, friends and the many lives he touched.

In dad's own words...

It's been a good long "meet"

Some calm days, some grand windy days,

and a few rough breezes.

To all Wayfarer sailors, always

remember -- Keep the pointy end

going forward and the open side up!
