I just wanted to pass this message onto some of my friends. Dad was just snowblowing the driveway on the last snowstorm.  It was quick. Life will be a lot different now, I expect.

Dear family and friends.  It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Graham Pilling after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.  Graham passed away on  March 18, 2013.  Thank you to the many people who have kept us in their prayers and thoughts during this difficult time.  We are grateful for the years and countless wonderful memories we have.  As per Graham’s request, there will not be a funeral.  Instead, we are gathering to celebrate Graham’s life at the Burlington Golf and Country Club, overlooking his Hamilton Harbour, 422 North Shore Boulevard East, Burlington, Ontario on Thursday March 21st from 2 to 5 pm.  We invite everyone to come and share memories.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA and Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.    We are attaching the official newspaper obit which will appear in the Hamilton Spectator Tues. and Wed.

PILLING, GRAHAM ANSCOMBE
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Graham, our loving husband and father, on March 18, 2013, in his 81st year.    Beloved husband for almost 58 years of Mary Jane (nee Regan).  Proud father of Jane Pilling-Cormick (Harold) and Susan Pilling (Stephen).  Brother of James Pilling.  Graham’s lifelong passion for ducks and carving decoys began in his early days growing up on the Hamilton Beach Strip.  He continued to carve and trap shoot until recently.  Dinghy sailing and racing were a significant part of his life.  He proudly passed these racing skills on to his daughters.  Graham apprenticed as a boat builder and eventually managed the Marine Dockyard at the Hamilton Port Authority (formerly the HHC) where he worked for 51 years and met the love of his life, Mary Jane.   He was a master woodworker and inventor, doing everything to perfection.   Graham also had a special connection with dogs.  He was a good friend and mentor to many.  Graham lived a happy and fulfilled life. We are grateful for the years and countless wonderful memories we have.
