began sailing at 14 years of age. Since then he has alternated
between racing dinghies and keel boats; long distance cruising on his
Douglas 32; and offshore sailing as crew including a Trans Atlantic
crossing in ’96. |
Sailing History: Born and raised in a
fishing community on the East Coast of New Brunswick, Louis enjoys
being on the water. However, his first experience at sailing only
happened three years ago and since then, he has been sailing as often
as possible in his CL 16. Louis has participated as crew in two
local races and as skipper in a race last fall (2003). Louis is
keen, eager aggressive, and enjoys challenges. |
When not sailing: Brian
retired at the age of 50 after a long career with the New Brunswick
Public Service. Since that time he has kept himself extremely
busy pursuing old passions and finding new ones. For example …
making documentary videos/films, publishing articles on his sailing
adventures; learning to play blues harmonica; long distance sailboat
cruising; gardening; collecting sports cars and vintage guitar
amplifiers; training with the Fredericton Amateur Boxing Club; making
and flying model airplanes; sailmaking and sail repair; teaching
boating courses for CPS; breeding goldfish; and of course spoiling
grandchildren. |
When not sailing:
Louis is an Innovation, Trade and Investment Officer for a Federal
economic development agency. He is fluent in French and English. Hobbies: Sailing has been his passion for the last three years. Louis has also been practicing Pilipino Martial Arts (Arnis de Mano) for the last eight years. In addition, he enjoys volleyball, jogging and skiing when he is not travelling. |
Family: Between them Judy and Brian have 4 married children and six grandchildren with potential for at least one more. |
Family: Family: Coming from a family of seventeen children, Louis is the only smart one who has never gotten married! |
