1. On a sunny, light-wind
club-race day,
The Infamous Grouse is running
on starboard
tack towards the race course.
The Infamous Grouse
is nervous since she’s still a good 200 m. from the start area but her
Preparatory Signal is only about one minute away.
Looe
Lightning, which started with an earlier division, is on her
first
beat and approaching on port tack on a collision course with The
Infamous Grouse. Being in a race against time herself, The
Infamous Grouse calls “Starboard”. Looe
Lightning
is not amused and holds her course. Finally, both Looe
Lightning and The Infamous Grouse
are
forced to alter course to avoid a collision. Both boats register valid
protests. |
