preserve consisting
of a small, remarkably beautiful archipelago of islands. It is
also
abundant with delectable mussels.

Abbey and his boat at
Duck Harbor
on Isle au Haut. Far out in the Atlantic, this remote, mountainous and
pristine island is heavily forested and part of the Acadia National
Park.

Duck Harbor. The
landing
to the right of Abbey & Allan is for the ferry that transports
campers
to a small, primitive Acadia Park campground. Says the ranger,
"People
come here to escape the world." Camping reservations are
difficult
to obtain.
