more fun in Sturgeon Cove
...
A Michigan couple and their son with a cottage on Neptune Island just west of us, came by to see if we were OK and invited us to breakfast the next morning - a kind offer but we decided that we didn't want to leave our next day's departure for the Benjamins too late.
..
Nothing here to entice any of us into an overly hasty departure from our lovely little shelter!
..
In mid-afternoon, Uncle Al moseyed on out to the point for another weather check and photographic odyssey.
The day was bright sunshine by now as the new high was filling in with gusto.
..
a beautiful spot!
..
Tonight is the night: venison chops will be served by Dick Harrington who brought these lovely delicacies courtesy of his skill in hunting with a bow and arrow - although the hunting was not done on this particular trip!
..
No sign of the wind abating as the afternoon wore on.
..
And the shoals look less inviting than ever.
..
At "home" everything is still calm and relaxed as the flags continue to reflect the back eddies.
..
Standing out here, Dick Tyrrell and I reminisced about a lovely line from Michael Green's The Art of Coarse Sailing where one of the intrepid mariners gets up, pokes his head out of the cabin and remarks that it's just a lovely day for a sail - and as he spoke, a gull flew by - backwards!
..
The walk back from the point offered some nice...
..
... backlit photo ops.
..
Indeed, it was a lot more relaxing to be in here than out there!
..
Dick Harrington starts preparations for the venison and baked potato barbecue while Ed uses his beloved binoculars to study the wildlife.
..
And there's some wildlife now: identified by Dick H. as a wood duck. Good eating, says Dick, and the duck turns away...
..
After an early and delectable dinner served up by Dick Harrington (note the remains of the fire), it's time to enjoy our after-dinner coffee.
Even though it's a warm early evening, Dick Tyrrell is attired in full anti-mossie regalia!
..
And Blue Mist is at peace also!
