Takes the Wayfarers Cruising on Chesapeake Bay: Crisfield - Smith Island - Tangier Island - Crisfield Sat 27 May - Tues 30 May: Getting to Crisfield via Tony's and Mary's - 2 pics mostly by Uncle Al ... |
Tony (4105) and Dick
(887) went for a little ... ... |
... afternoon ... ... |
... sail to ... ... |
... get the kinks out. ... |
Dick gets set to ... ... |
... moor for the night
- with help from Hans (l) and ... ... |
... the very limber
Richard. Don't look at this, Bill Harkins, because we
did not moor your lovely boat nearly as painstakingly. ... |
Still, our time was
not entirely wasted! ... |
Hans and I (r)
did the classic two-line ... ... |
... kitty-corner
(diagonal) mooring job which did the job of keeping us
bump-free all night, even with slack built in to
accommodate the foot or so of tidal drop expected
during the night. Dick expressed some concern that our
rudder might fall off if we left it like this
overnight. I should have listened to Dick's sage
advice but had a refreshing beer instead.

Soon we were all set
for the night. The marina manager had put us right next
to shelter (above) where we could eat or drink out of sun and rain, and right beside this, was a lovely pool! ... |
A brief walk later, we
were enjoying the sunset at a waterside sea food place,
ready to have the art of crab eating ... ... |
... demonstrated by an
expert!! Luckily for us, a good breeze was blowing,
keeping bugs to a minimum. Indeed, this bug-removal breeze was to bless us all three nights we were in the area!! Lucky us!! ... |
Richard, a rookie,
learned fast. ... |
In fact, he and Mary
not only ... ... |
... demolished more
than their share of the crabs, but also dabbled in ... ... |
... crab ... ... |
... art! ... |
On our walk/wobble
home, we passed this crab holding tank. Luckily for us, we spent a much more peaceful and promising night than they did! |
