Preparations at VSK - 2
..
The team of Bill Fyfe (left) and Brian McCleery hard at work on their borrowed boat.
..
Neil Shawcross (left) checks out the competition's boat
while Tom Wharton checks out the competition.
..
Borrowed boats have been known to be a bit on the rustic side
but Bill and Brian seems to feel that this is going a bit far.
..
There is another side to this story, however. This boat (W4906) was made available by Niels Ebbehøj.
The word is that Niels had been waiting  to get his "revenge" for 13 years - since the '76 Worlds in Toronto
where he got stuck with what he considered to be an unpardonable poor borrowed boat. I do believe a
more conventional extension tiller was ultimately made available to B & B.
..
Maggie Shawcross gets the details just right...
..
... as Tom Wharton, an admirer of detail, looks on.
..
One of the Esbjerg teams admires and gets inspired by the Dearnley machine Eighth Wonder.
l to r: Morten Støjer (crew for Carsten), Anne, Carsten Lauridsen (W5673)
..
Carsten Lauridsen
..
Wayfarer Emeritus, George Blanchard...
..
... and his crew, Graham Dodd
..
Bryan Sims and Sandy Clifford once again
..
Steve Carroll and his father Ken, who at the age of 65, was probably the oldest crew in the Worlds.
And not one word of complaint about the windy, cold conditions! What a man!!
